Villages and towns
Each town has its own story, its own charm and characteristics. Ideal for a visit during a cycling or walking trip:
Cadzand-Bad (Cadzand Beach) (1 km = 0.6 miles)
A seaside resort with numerous amenities such as shops, restaurants, fries and ice cream, bike rental and many beach pavilions.
The beach of Cadzand-Bad is only 5 minutes by bike from our campsite. The beaches and dunes are clean and wide. By the way, our beaches are among the cleanest in the Netherlands!
Cadzand-bad also has a beautiful new harbour. This State of the Art marina has 125 spacious berths of different sizes.
Zwin nature reserve (2 km)
This protected area lies on the southernmost coast of the Netherlands on the border with Belgium. Walks through the salt marshes and mud flats are possible with the assistance of a guide.
In the summer months the Zwin turns a purple colour on account of the blooming wild flowers. Because of the sea inlet the Zwin is also an important bird sanctuary.
Cadzand-Dorp (Cadzand Village) (2,5 km)
Old village centre and beautiful church with 13th century tower, the world peace flame and an old raised windmill that you can still visit.
Retranchement (2,7 km)
The most south-westerly coastal village in the Netherlands, just a few metres from the border with Belgium. Beautiful walk along the ramparts. Open timber windmill from 1643 and a lovely church from the 17th century.
Sluis (8,7 km)
Charming historical town with wonderful fortifications, belfry and quayside. All shops are open 7/7, many shops, boutiques, restaurants and pubs.
Sint-Anna Ter Muiden (9,3 km)
Picturesque village whose market square is on the national heritage list. The Stichting Kunstkring (Art Society Foundation) organises regular activities.
Groede (11,7 km)
Atmospheric historical village with attractive market square and typical houses. Several restaurants and the Flemish heritage museum street (Het Vlaemsche Erfgoed) are well worth a visit!
Breskens (15,7 km)
Fishing village where an annual fishing festival is held in August. The ferry to Flushing departs from Breskens and there is a Fishing Museum. For a trip to watch the seals you can jump on board the MS De Festijn.
Damme (Belgium) (17,7 km)
Known for the beautiful medieval market square, its numerous bookshops, restaurants and beautiful location on the Damme canal.
Aardenburg (18,7 km)
The oldest city in Zeeland! With remains from Roman times and later fortifications still visible. Archaeological museum and the old St. Baafs church.
Brugge (Belgium) (24 km)
Medieval city, known worldwide and celebrated for its beauty. Bruges is a must!
Cycling and walking
There’s no shortage of cycle tracks and walking trails near to the campsite. Suggested routes are marked or you can choose your route and the distance using the Zeeland node cycling system (FIKS). Many walking and cycling itineraries are available from the tourist office in Cadzand-Bad, both using maps or by text messaging and GPS.

Wooden windmill on a raised mound located between the ramparts of Retranchement, built in 1643.

A hundred cows are milked by automated machines and there are calves to stroke. There are guided tours to help get acquainted with the life of the modern cow and farmer.

Enjoy the flowers in many colours and shapes, animals and their offspring and the nostalgic atmosphere.

One of the biggest events in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen are the evening markets in Sluis.
Every year the markets take place on the 2 last Tuesdays of July and the 2 first Tuesdays of August.
